The transmission of audio signals is at least a single CAT5e Ethernet cable over a distance of up to 100 meters. The most important advantage outside the very low weight of the "multipair" comes from the fact that the digital link between the scene - on which are the sources microphones and instruments - is almost insensitive to electromagnetic interference, which ensures an audio quality much better than with an analog multipair of the same length.
